Under the leadership of the Senior Pastor, the Worship Pastor provides spiritual leadership and care to the congregation in the context of our worship gatherings and experiences. In particular, the Worship Pastor engages most directly with those involved in worship leadership. This includes the pastoral team, worship gathering leaders, musicians, speakers, and others engaged in worship-related arts. The Worship Pastor is also responsible for oversight of the basic elements of technology used in the delivery of worship services. The position could be expanded by a further 0.15 FTE for additional Worship Production tech responsibilities.
The candidate will take a primary role, in collaboration with the Senior Pastor, in providing spiritual leadership in the worshipping life of our congregation, developing and guiding worship experiences that lead our congregation to encounter God, invite dynamic participation, experience fellowship, hear God’s Word and bring significant offerings in response. In addition, promote a biblical and theological vision for worship. By example, instruction and mentoring, lead those who will lead the congregation in worship. Provide opportunities for expression of a wide variety of art forms and ministry gifts by all age groups within the congregation and develop and coordinate worship outlines for Sunday services and other congregational worship experiences.
Other duties include the production oversight of all in-person and livestream worship gatherings, working with the Worship Leaders, Musical Team Leaders, Visual Arts team, Technical Services team, as well as the Pastoral Team for creation and administration of livestream links and recordings to develop and shape an approach to worship consistent with the biblical and theological vision. The candidate will develop and maintain job descriptions, processes and procedures for all worship ministry teams, committees and leaders, recruit and coordinate worship leaders, musicians, sound and video tech, and other volunteer ministry teams. Scheduling and communication through online planning and volunteer management system (Planning Center app). In addition, the candidate will develop feedback loops so that those engaged in worship leadership may benefit and grow in their ministry effectiveness.
We are looking for a spirit-filled follower of Jesus who is committed to the church and who is able to support the vision of FGMB, the MB Confession of Faith, and be a credentialed minister of the MBCM or willing to enter the credentialing process. The successful candidate will have a post-secondary education with an emphasis in the area of Worship Arts and 2+ years of experience in worship ministry and leadership. Formal musical training is preferred. Familiarity with video editing and digital media would be an asset. In addition, the candidate will have planning and organizational skills, leadership and interpersonal relations skills, creativity in incorporating various art forms into worship services, written and verbal communication skills and ability to function well in a team environment. The candidate will be willing to become a member of FGMB and have a clear Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Working hours in the office environment are variable depending on the requirements of the position and the personal schedule of the successful candidate.
