Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba is seeking applicants for the position of provincial director. The director is responsible to develop the vision and strategic plan for MBCM, and provide senior leadership to implement the strategy through policies, programs, and ministries that equip, resource, and inspire the MB churches of Manitoba.

The ideal candidate will possess visionary, strategic, and relational capabilities. He/she must have post-secondary education in a relevant discipline, have demonstrated leadership experience of at least 5 years, and have close knowledge of the dynamics and ethos of churches / non-profit organizations. The candidate should have experience leading teams, developing and implementing vision and strategy, preparing and managing a budget, and reporting to an executive-level position or a board of directors.

Role profile

Purpose: The director is responsible to develop the vision and strategic plan for MBCM and provides senior leadership to implement the strategy through policies, programs, and ministries that equip, resource, and inspire the MB churches of Manitoba.

This position reports directly to the provincial leadership board and serves on the national ministry team together with other senior provincial leaders under the leadership of the national director.

Key Deliverables and Results

  • MBCM strategic plan and annual plans
  • Development and management of annual MBCM budget
  • Development of effective and healthy relationships with MBCM churches and partner agencies, including Canadian Mennonite University, Steinbach Bible College, MB Seminary, and Simonhouse
  • Development and leadership of staff team to deliver on strategic objectives
  • Provide leadership to provincial events, including Assembly, pastors retreat, and Council of Representatives (CR)

What education is required to be successful in the role? What education / specializations would be beneficial?

Degree or certificate in a relevant discipline. Preference will be given to graduates of church ministry or theological programs. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Faith and MB Church Membership

The ideal candidate must have an active and vibrant faith in Jesus Christ and a love of the local church. The candidate must be a member in good standing in his/her local church and adhere to the MB Confession of Faith. The candidate must be willing to join an MB church if not already a member.
