Special Resolution

We, the Assembly of Congregations of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba, do resolve that, unless River East Church returns to an active embrace of MBCM member church expectations by May 30, 2024, River East Church’s official membership in the Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba will end effective May 31, 2024.

We finally resolve that should River East Church’s MBCM membership end as of May 31, 2024, MBCM extends an ongoing invitation for REC to return to MBCM if they choose to embrace and live in accordance with our shared member church expectations.

Who can be a Delegate?

Delegates are people appointed by their church leadership who have been chosen to represent the church as a whole. If you are unsure if this is you, please connect with your church leadership. All are welcome to attend the service and AGM, but the distinction is important. For your reference, we have provided the MBCM’s Constitution Article 6, Section 2 below:

Congregations in good standing shall be represented at Assemblies of Congregations of the Manitoba Conference by their leader or pastor and one (I) delegate for every fifteen (15) members or a fraction. Only delegates shall have voting privileges.

All delegates shall be in good standing with their local member congregation and shall have been authorized by it to be one of its representatives.

[eg. a church with 110 members is eligible to appoint 9 delegates, which is one pastor and 8 members (110/15=7.33)]

The Executive may invite any person to participate in deliberations at any Assembly of Congregations.

Are Guests Welcome?

Guests are permitted under the following restrictions:

  • two (2) guests per church, appointed by their church leadership
  • two (2) guests per partner organization. If you are unsure if your organization is a partner of MBCM, please reach out to us at info@mbcm.ca
